Just posted this quick tutorial on a few Pro Tools tips! Got this done in a few hours yesterday and had a blast making it. There's no better way to improve your own understanding of something than showing it to others. Enjoy! [ for more tutorials & instructions, please email me about my upcoming recording workshop at the end of June.]
New Live-in-Studio Finish Ticket Video!
It's almost summer ya'll! So why don't we take a second and listen to some great big summer hooks?! Check out the video for the song "Pockets" from my guys in Finish Ticket at my studio Dirt Room. I produced & engineered this while somehow finding a way to also shoot and edit it. It was a killer learning experience and I'm looking forward to doing more of these in the future. Enjoy & let me know what you think! You can email me at bradkdollar@gmail.com or call/text me at 510-776-3306. Would love to start touching base & working with more of you!
The National & Bob Weir
Just unearthing a bunch of great videos of stuff I've worked on and found this gem! The National & Bob Weir together at TRI Studios. Awesome night! Relive it now.

Summer In The Studio Recording Camp
Summer in the Studio 2013-A recording camp hosted by producer/engineer Brad Dollar & artist/producer Jonathan Devoto
Read MoreHey ya’ll! Check out the video for Ghost & Gale’s “Take Me to the Fire.” I recorded this over the course of 2012 at singer Brodie Jenkin’s family ranch. Lots of great posts from those sessions thru-out my blog [scroll for more :)]. Fellow Dirt Room co-producer/colleague/superhero Jonathan Devoto can be heard on the drumskies.
You can listen to my mix of the song that I used on my recent personal 7” vinyl record on my player above. Hope everyone is well! Cheers to all the art we make, have made, and will make.
New offerings from River Shiver! Just finished producing this single from their upcoming record. Vibey, baby!

Hey ya’ll. Been back in the ol’ studio mine shaft the past few weeks reclaiming my zen.
Alongside my brother Jonathan Devoto, I produced & engineered 3 new tracks for my homies in Finish Ticket that will be in the collective of songs for their upcoming release. We handled basics at Laughing Tiger in San Rafael, rocking their SSL 4000G, stellar room and abundant mic & gear lockers. Had a really great time recording these guys live and taking advantage of a juicy analog front-end. Overdubs were handled at Jon’s Professional Studio. One song is mixed & ready to go and the other two are on their way.
On a more personal note, I’ve been making music in the Bay Area since I was eleven, have seen a ton of great bands come & go, and Finish Ticket is destined to be one of the champions in the East Bay pantheon. It’s been great working with a band thats awesome at being a band.
Also got a chance to indulge in shooting some video for the excellent human being Sam Pura’s The Waiting Room [hosted by Alternative Press] at Panda Studios. Filming is one of those things I’ve always loved and wanted to pursue more, but haven’t until now. It was great to hang with and shoot the guys in The Story So Far. I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for pop-punk/hardcore and bands that do it well. Also, big ups to those guys for sticking with it for so long. Found it pretty full circle to be working with a band that I can remember seeing promoting their first shows. Footage is being edited by Evan Henkel. I’ll post it up here when it’s done!
I’m off to the Grammy’s everybody! If anyone in LA wants to hang out, go to some shows or get your drink on, get at me! No better time than the present to make friends.
Have a great week, project positivity and start thinking one good thought about that thing in your life you love to hate. Let me know how that works out!
